花は、それ自体完全な美であると言われ、その美をいかに自分の感性でより美しく存在感のある物にするか、花と向きあって花に任せて無心でいける。常に雑念の中に生きている昨今、無心に花と向かっている時は、私にとって無上の喜び。

作品制作において流木を使いますが、私にとって流木とは単に朽ちてしまった木ではなく、生から無に変化 しその存在は新たに不変性を持ち永遠に存在し続ける、宇宙をも感じさせる無限の象徴なのです。そして花 はどんなに美しく咲いていても、永遠に存在することはできない、花は限りある美を象徴するものなのです 。

私にとって流木と花を共にいけることは「無限の中の有限の美」を表現することで、これが、私のテーマ といえます。自分にとって花をいけることは、単に美しくいけるだけではなく、繊細かつ生命力溢れるもの でありたいと常に思っています。

Theme

I arrange flowers, by facing them with calming thoughts, to bring out their inner beauty even more than what their own natural beauty can show. As we live in days with so many disturbances, the time when I face with flowers in a spiritual calmness would become my ultimate pleasure in life.

Floating twigs, I use in my art works, are not simply sticks of downed-trees, but I feel, are the symbol of infinite universe of life-to-death cycle, in which they are transformed into unending existence. Flowers, even blossom beautifully at times, cannot exist forever; and therefore, represent the limitation of what the beauty can last.

The main theme in arranging both the flowers and the floating twigs, in my mind, is an attempt to visualize “such finite moment of that beauty in the infinite universe”. Arranging flowers, I always believe, is not just simply to bundle them together beautifully, but to help bring out the peak moment in their lives.
